Reading Saya Pun Melayu my mind went back to yesteryears in 60ies when I was in STARThe harmonious environment of rural Malay students… I remember Chegu Roslan Ahmad teaching us Malay, sometimes talk in English, And Mr Lee teaching English giving examples of poor rural Malay families. My mind flies to late 50ies, when I was in Darjah Enam. Those years, I bought exercise books from PGGMB shop.

National Philosophy

The National Philosophy of Melayu Islam Beraja (Malay Islamic Monarchy) has actually been in existence as far back as 100 AD. The Brunei Malay Monarchy is believed to have been established in early 5th century. Islam spread to the Malay Archipelago in the 6th century and became official religion in the 14th century when the Brunei King, Sang Aji Awang Alak Betatar became the first Sultan known as Sultan Muhammad Shah.
