36 years ago, the Lost Begun…

A tribute to the maestro… Your songs will live forever. GETARAN JIWA, probably his greatest song performed here by Ismail Haron, a 1974 recording and for me personally one of the best interpretations of this beautiful song from the film ‘Antara Dua Darjat’.

All photos taken from the encyclopedic book of Malay films KACA PERMATA – Memoir Saorang Pengarah by JAMIL SULONG, also a maestro of Malay films.

Passed away on the 29th May 1973 at the age of 44, exactly 36 years ago
Al fatihah……Legacy beliau tetap kekal dan di sanjungi.

Rudy Van Dalm

This is the first time I have heard the song and I love it, though the middle guitar solo portion sounds familiar. Rudy sings well and the SE Asian melody is a joy. It also enlightens me on Indo-Rock of the 1960s when I started listening to Ventures, Shadows, and the like.     Read the rest of this entry »

Invasion of Malaya: Adnan’s heroic exploits at Bukit Chandu live on

It was to be the last they would see of each other.
When the first attack on Bukit Chandu came, the Japanese soldiers were said to have been dressed as Punjabi soldiers.

The sharp-eyed Adnan, however, was not fooled and was said to have personally killed 22 enemy soldiers that day.
