“O People, eat from the land what is permitted & good & do not follow in the footsteps of Shaitan, for he is an open enemy to you.” (Al Baqarah, 2:168)
We are allowed to eat any fish as long as it has scales. All other sea creatures such as whales, sharks, turtles, lobsters and crabs are Haraam. The only exception is for prawns and shrimps, which can be eaten.

In 631 AD, the residents of Taif accepted Islam and became part of the emerging Islamic state. A mere 55 miles from Makkah, Taif was strongly influenced by Islam early on, losing many of its residents who migrated in order to propagate the faith throughout the Peninsula. The Holy Qur’an, (Sura 63, 31) refers to Makkah and Taif as “al-Qariyyatain” — the two cities — an expression that clearly implies a close relationship between them. Read the rest of this entry »

…..thunderbolts filled the air, followed by a rumbling noise and severe earthquakes that destroyed the entire tribe. The land was violently shaken, destroying all living creatures in it. Che Kepol and her group had a chance to climb up the hill of light, ‘Jabal Nur’ or widely known as ‘Jabal Hira’. The time taken to climb the hill is about 1 hour. The height from sea level is 621 m, but from the foothill is only around 281 m. On the top of the hill is where the cave of Hira is located. This is the cave, where the Angel Jibril came down to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and send him the first revelation (‘wahyu’) (Q, s. al Alaq/96:1). One of Che Kepol entourage, her younger sister is known to suffer from asthma, however, suprisingly, she could climb Jabal Nur without any difficulties. SubhanaAlah.

A rare point of agreement between Westerners and Muslims is that both believe that Muslim nations should be more economically prosperous than they are today. But they gauge the problem quite differently. Muslim publics have an aggrieved view of the West – they are much more likely than Americans or Western Europeans to blame Western policies for their own lack of prosperity. For their part, Western publics instead point to government corruption, lack of education and Islamic fundamentalism as the biggest obstacles to Muslim prosperity.
