Valium (diazepam) is usually recommended for patients older than 18 diagnosed with any anxiety disorder and looking to get those symptoms under control. This drug works by correcting the imbalance of chemicals and can be used in different forms. If you have been prescribed the liquid form, make sure you always take it exactly as prescribed. If you missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if you remembered too late – skip the dose missed, as taking more of Valium than needed is not going to make your treatment more successful. The following symptoms of overdose are possible: extreme drowsiness, confusion, weak muscles, shallow breathing, and fainting. If you get any of them, seek emergency medical help as an overdose of Valium can be lethal. Always make sure you tell your doctor about any medical conditions you have before starting the treatment, especially lung disease, seizures, glaucoma, liver disease, heart disease, or any other ones you have that may be important. You may be started on a lower dose to make sure you get no dangerous side effects, but your dose may later be adjusted by your health care provider based on the evaluation of your general health condition.
